Open your eyes and see the beauty.
I love this quote. There is beauty in everything… even buried in the walls of an old, out of date bathroom. Sometimes I have to just make myself see the beauty that is already there instead of saying “it’s too old, or too small, or I don’t have enough money to make it beautiful” Sure, I would love to have a gorgeous pottery barn style bathroom. However, for budgets sake I have to make do with what I have… and that’s ok.
The basement bathroom in our house is one of those spaces that gets totally neglected. After all, nobody sees it but us. Then one day it hit me. I want to enjoy a beautiful space! So, I opened my eyes to its beauty. I used what I had and transformed it.
The yucky, dark before.
The builder grade oak cabinet got a little paint.
I added some dark brown paint and then went over the top of it with white chalk paint for a lighter brighter look.
I used 2 coats of primer to cover all of that green. Check out the light fixture! Yikes.
I then painted the walls with a fresh coat of white paint. It’s looking so much brighter already!
I added a little farmhouse charm with a plank wall.
I patched the nail holes and painted the wall.
Now the fun part! Adding all the fixtures and accessories.
I had so much fun making the wreath, wall art and the drift wood towel hanger.
The driftwood shelf is like a piece of art. It adds a little rustic charm. Best part… It was free to make!
My favorite part is the cheese box shelf. Click here for a full tutorial.
I used the old mirror and covered it with tree bark to tie everything in. I love how the light fixture turned out. Click here for a full tutorial.
A bar of homemade soap and a jar of bath salt really pretty up the room.
I am so happy with the way it turned out. See, I managed to find the beauty in this previously dark, old bathroom.
