Top O’ the mornin to ya. It’s time for a little green! Yes, I do live in Colorado, but I’m not talking about that kind of green. Wink, wink! I’m talking about St. Patrick’s day, green! Who else loves all things shamrock?
I came up with a super simple pallet sign for St. Patrick’s day to add just the right amount of green into my home.
I started by attaching my boards together with a nail gun. (Check out that groovy towel! It is the aftermath from my Valentines Day puzzle art.)
I then sanded the front of the boards with my hand sander before applying a light whitewash. Whitewashing can easily be done by using a 50/50 mix of water and white paint.
I picked up a small pony horseshoe at my local farm supply store and painted it gold. This will be the “u” in my sign. New horseshoes are usually dirty, so I recommend washing before painting.
I simply printed out my letters and traced them onto my boards with carbon paper.
I used a small craft brush to paint over my transferred lettering and also free-handed a few shamrocks.
I felt the sign was a little blah, so I traced around everything with a sharpie for an extra pop of color.
If you’re wondering why I chose “so damn lucky” it is one of my many favorite Dave Matthews songs. (My cat Lex had to get in at least one picture.)
I just need a green beer and I’ll be ready for St. Patrick’s day!
I hope you all have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s day!
May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go. – Irish Blessing
